The Mar Vista High School spring sports session are in full swing, with a few seasons coming to a near close.

Several Mariner teams started the season off with respectable records. The Lady Mariner softball team is currently seeded third in the South Bay League Conference with a record of 6-2. They have a strong team this year that has gotten them to place among the top five in the CIF San Diego Section Division III standings. The majority of the team consists of underclassmen, which is quite impressive in comparison to other teams where upperclassmen occupy the varsity team. In the previous season they became the defending South Bay League Champions with an 11-1 record and had several members make first and second team all-league. They have high hopes of having several players make all-league teams once again.

The Mariners Boys golf, in Division II, has cinched the Metro South Bay league championship with a league record of 8-0 and overall record of 8-4.

The Mar Vista Boys’ baseball team has had an amazing start in league and are currently 4-1, seeded as the no. 1 team in the South Bay League Conference. The Mariners are also ranked as the no. 3 seed in the CIF San Diego Section Division IV standings. They have an impressive overall winning record of 18-6. Their most recent game was played against the Mater Dei Crusaders on Tuesday, May 1, where they took home a win with the final score ending at 2-0. Senior player, Jake Borst leads the team stats in batting averages with a .424 , followed by senior teammate, Daniel Ortiz , with a .377. Their next home game will be played on May 3 against Mater Dei Catholic once again at 3 p.m.

The Mar Vista Boys Swim and Dive team is currently 4-2. Senior, Oscar Vargas, is currently undefeated in his events, the 200 IM and the 100 fly. Vargas is known in the Mesa League for his butterfly stroke and was voted the Mesa League Swimmer of the Year in the previous season. He is favored to gain that tile once again. Sydney Snaith and Luis Godinez, the defending Mesa League Divers of the Year have qualified for the CIF Divion II finals and are favored to reclaim their title at league finals this Friday at Parkway pool at 3 p.m..

The Mariner Track Team is currently undefeated in dual meets with a record of 4-0. They are in first for the South Bay League Title. They go against the Castle Park Trojans this Thursday away. If the Boys team loses they will share the banner with the Trojans, but if they defeat the Trojans they will win it all with undefeated record of 5-0.

“This would be the first time in a long time that we win a championship like this,” says Head Coach Alton Colter.

The Lady Mariner track and field squad are currently 3-1, after losing a close match against the Crusaders. If the Lady Mariners defeat the Trojans they still have a shot at co-champs.

It has been an impressive spring season and athletes have been working hard for results like this. Good Luck to all our Mariner athletes and congratulations on a strong season!

When you are interested in an inexpensive oxygen regarding jr jogging shoes, mom and dad must steer clear of choosing elegant units. The particular flashiest or perhaps most high-priced nike cricket shoes, in addition to getting pricey, may well not give you the identical level of comfort. As a result, buying a secure and also average-priced boot is the better alternative regarding mom and dad.
