Each year, Mar Vista High School honors its student-athletes with an awards ceremony that recognizes the achievements from each of the 27 sports at Mar Vista High School (MVHS). With over 800 participants across three seasons, there are great student-athletes that deserve commendation. Here are the MVHS All Sports Awards winners for the 2018-19 Season, nominated by the MVHS coaching staff and voted on by a panel of athletic administrators along with four-year letterman and tri-seasonal athletes.

Thanks again for following Mariners Athletics this year. We look forward to the upcoming 2019-20 seasons, which starts on July 30 Have a great summer.

Tri-Seasonal Athletes- These student athletes earned a varsity letter in all three sports seasons this year: Erick Gutierrez, football, wrestling, track; Cesar Macias, football, soccer, golf; Emily Leslie, volleyball, water polo, softball; Daniel Martinez, cross country, soccer, track; Rebecca Romero, cross country water polo, softball; Julian Winnie, cross country, wrestling, golf; Lauren Wold, volleyball, basketball, track; Jennifer Mendoza Martinez, tennis, roller hockey, lacrosse; Jeremy Longworth, water polo, soccer, baseball; Kaliyah Alcaraz, volleyball, basketball, track; Shaunessy Cardwell, volleyball, basketball, softball; Summer Chalmers, golf, water polo, swim, Melanie Clamp, golf, water polo, swim; Kyla Clark, volleyball, soccer, track; Anthony Gass, cross country, basketball, volleyball; Kaelin McManus, volleyball, water polo, softball; Kayla Quinones, golf, water polo, swim; Camryn Wold, golf, basketball, track; Pete Flores, cross country, basketball track; Brandon Torres, cross country, soccer track.

Four-Year Letterman- These senior student athletes earned a varsity letter all four years in their respective sport:

Zachary Hastings, baseball; Lyndsey Rector, girls water polo; Emily Leslie, girls water polo and softball; Shaylin Weygandt, girls water polo; Nico Garcia, boys lacrosse; Lauren Wold, girls track and girls basketball; Jazmyne Gomez, softball; Rebecca Romero, softball; Jesse Ibarra, boys golf; Julian Winnie, wrestling; Roy Figueroa, wrestling; Nate Bingham, wrestling.

Nicoloff Leadership Award - named after George Nicoloff, this award goes to one member of each team who exudes the leadership and inspiration of Mr. Nicoloff, listed from fall, winter and spring sports:

Here are the Seasonal Players of the Year:

Fall: Jacob Galeana for football and Genevieve Hara for girls volleyball;

Winter: Roy Figueroa for boys wrestling and Anya Rodriguez for girls wrestling;

Spring: Nico Garcia for boys lacrosse and Bryanna Schaffer/Abi Rivera for softball.

The Mar Vista Student Athletes of the Year are:

Lauren Wold, 3.91 GPA, volleyball, basketball and track;

Jeremy Longworth, 4.33 GPA, waterpolo, soccer, baseball.

Athletes of the Year:

For the boys: Zach Hastings, water polo and baseball and Damon Thomas, football and baseball.

For the girls: Emily Leslie, volleyball, water polo and softball, and Aurora Santillan, soccer and lacrosse.

Mar Vista also celebrated the Coach of the Year:

Tracey Garcia (softball): Two South Bay League Banners in three years, CIF Semi-finalists, finished in the top 20 (power rankings) in all of San Diego County.
