The Mar Vista High School varsity lacrosse team honored its seniors last Friday as they completed their regular season home game finale with the Mar Vista High Mariners squashing the Lincoln High Hornets, 17-0.
The seniors Griffin Posey, Jonathan Tiznado, Eddie Ruiz, Allen Castiillo, and Sam Avelar were recognized for their contributions to the team.
The very close-knit group of five seniors helped Mariners have a successful season taking second place in their league.
Posey, no. 8, had been with the team two years playing defense and midfielder. After graduation Posey plans to attend Southwestern college and then transfer to Humboldt University to study Mycology and Chemistry.
Tiznado, no. 3, played three years at Mar Vista where he was a midfielder. He plans to attend Southwestern College transferring to San Diego State to study physical therapy.
Ruiz, no. 28, played one year of Varsity Lacrosse as defense. After graduation he plans to attend Mesa College to become a Radiologist Technician.
Castillo, no. 44, has been a three year varsity player and team captain serving as the team’s goalie. After graduation Castillo plans to attend Southwestern College, continue playing Lacrosse and study exercise physiology.
Avelar, no. 4, has been part of Mar Vista Lacrosse for three years as team captain, midfielder and faceoff specialist. He plans to attend Southwestern College, transfer to a Division I university, continue to play Lacrosse, and study physical therapy.
The coaches Jacob Crose, Steven Flemens, and Kit Windgate, thank the seniors for their hard work and dedication to the team and wish them luck in their future endeavors.
