After reading the Q/A of Councilmember West and Gonzalez-Leyba I would ask: Do any of the candidates have an actual vision of Imperial Beach and a plan to obtain that vision? The city needs a viable long term revenue plan, true mobility plan and the creation of a recreation department (immediately), new senior center.... at a minimum. A solution to Managed retreat.

Have the people running for City Council in Imperial Beach given a public statement concerning Managed Retreat? Have the candidates been asked? The city was forced to revise its plans on Managed Retreat because of large opposition from residents. This issue still exists in the city planning and was mentioned by Councilmember Spriggs at last council meeting. I believe it is important for the residents to know the views of the candidates specifically as they pertain to this issue. Councilmember West has voted repeatedly in favor of Managed Retreat. The people have not.

It needs a Vision 2020. Twenty infrastructure projects over the next 20 years designed to promote and nurture the well being of young and old, increase parking while also encouraging multi modal transportation, generate revenue and put the City on a future path to be a leader in Sustainability, coastal conservation and smart infrastructure all doing so while recognizing its long and proud history promoting a true partnership with its once again growing military community. The City needs to make a bet on what makes Imperial Beach special - it’s people.

Thank you
