Hazel M. Wieberg

Hazel Marie Wieberg, age 91, of Grove, OK passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at her home.

Hazel was born December 25, 1931 to William and Catherine (Pulis) Kennedy in Mexico, MO. She grew up in Martinsburg, MO where she graduated high school.

On November 29, 1953 in Port Hueneme, CA she married the love of her life Jerome Wieberg. He preceded her in death in 1999. They made their home in Imperial Beach, CA in 1961 where they raised six children.

After raising their family Hazel became a volunteer at Coronado Hospital which inspired her to go back to school and become a Certified Nurses Assistant. Hazel worked as a CNA and in home health in Coronado, CA for 18 years. Hazel also was a volunteer for the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department in Imperial Beach for several years.

In the early 2000’s Hazel moved to Las Vegas to be near her sons and in 2020 she moved to Grove, OK to be near her daughters.

Hazel enjoyed knitting and reading. She was also a huge Elvis Presley fan. For her 80th birthday party in Las Vegas she had 10 Elvis impersonators from her Elvis club that she was a member of. She loved music, dancing, and especially gospel music. Hazel never met a stranger, was a friend to everyone, and told the best stories. She was an organized, strong willed, take charge lady who at 91 still lived independently until her passing.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Linda Rogers and Stella Sanders; and her great granddaughter, Kylah Lewis.

Left to cherish her memory; daughters, Phyllis Taylor (Arthur), Teresa Heilman (Richard), Catherine Buccieri, all of Grove, and Patricia Smith of San Diego, CA; sons, David Wieberg (Leilani) and Steven Wieberg, both of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Kenneth Cleeton (Lara Mae) of Montgomery City, MO; sisters, Bonnie Garver of Las Vegas, NV, and Ethel Wilkinson of Farber, MO; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Hazel will join her husband at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, CA.
