Born in Southbridge, Massachusetts on Jan. 3, 1917, Eleanor was an incredible mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
She met and married Howard Blackburn at 19 and after 12 years, followed him to California where Howard’s brother-in-law worked for the Navy. They had three children, Jack, Virginia and Howard. After her first husband died at age 44, Eleanor later married Andrew Yachwan.
Eleanor was a long time resident of Imperial Beach. For 67 years she dedicated herself to her family, her church and the people in her community. She was a kind and considerate woman, as beautiful on the inside as the outside. She is sorely missed.
Even at 100 years old, she was sharp as a tack, occupying herself with puzzles and anything that would challenge the mind all the way up to her passing away.
Eleanor is predeceased by her husbands Howard and Andrew and her son Howard.
Her children Jack (Sally) Blackburn and Virginia Burke, her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren will celebrate her long and fulfilled life on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. at Glen Abbey Bonita, 3838 Bonita Road.
