Diane Marie Curtis

Diane Marie Curtis, a 52-year Imperial Beach resident, was born in October 1943 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and passed away peacefully from COPD, at the age of 77, surrounded by family, on July 9, 2021 in San Diego.

Graveside service will be held on July 16, 2021, at 11 a.m. at La Vista Memorial Park, 3191 Orange St, National City. A celebration of life will be held immediately following.

Diane is survived by her husband of 57 years, Wayne Curtis, and their children Aric (Elsa) Curtis, Wanda Curtis and Vicki (John) Holmes; her six grandchildren; her brother William “Bill” (Lynn); and many in her extended family. Diane was so very proud of her family. She loved them all so very much.

Diane went to Central Elementary, National City Junior High and Sweetwater High School in National City. After marrying Wayne, the Army took them to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Soon they returned to Imperial Beach to buy a home and raise a family. Diane was baptized at First Baptist church in Imperial Beach.

Diane helped so many in the Imperial Beach community and had so many good friends that she loved. Over the years, Diane was part of the Imperial Beach Woman’s Club and Red Hatters society. She volunteered with March of Dimes and her children’s softball and baseball leagues. Diane loved baseball and watching the Padres, home improvement projects, traveling, all kinds of food, reading, and Christmas, where she had 100+ Santa Clauses all over her house.

Diane retired as a teacher’s aide after 23 years at Imperial Beach Elementary school. Diane loved children, especially her grandchildren, Ian, Andrew, Zachery, Matthew, Emily and Sydney. They were her love and joy.

Diane was the best wife, mother, grandma and friend. She is well-loved and will be missed by all until we see her again in Heaven.
