Shirley Anne Davidson

Shirley Anne Davidson was born on February 9, 1928 in Sioux City, Iowa. She passed away after a short illness, surrounded by family and friends at the Coronado Villa on May 5, 2016. She was 88, and was predeceased by her beloved husband William Lannes Davidson Captain USMC Ret.

Shirley and William lived in Imperial Beach for many years, and sang in the choir at the North Island Chapel and other military chapels around the country. They moved to Coronado in 1981, where William died in 1983.

She was a longtime volunteer at the Coronado Playhouse, and worked for many years at the Coronado Library. She was a voracious reader and so loved being a Librarian. You could always find her deep into a book, and she knew the plot and characters and could tell you about them right up to the end of her life. Reading kept her sharp.

She is survived by two brothers, Morris and Ronny Hart; and leaves behind four sons, Bill (Pam),Tom (Shirley), Bob (Jennifer), and David (Kim); along with nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Pauls United Methodist church, 700 D Avenue on May 19 at 1 p.m., with reception after the service.
