Terry Lee Winkle

Although born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Terry moved to San Diego

County with his parents, Joseph and Caroline Winkle, in 1950. He grew up in Imperial Beach, graduating from Mar Vista High School in 1966. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany and doing a tour of duty in Vietnam.

Terry worked at various jobs over the years ending with the California Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer where he was injured on the job and and then medically retired.

Terry was pre-deceased by his wife, Jackie Haley Winkle; his daughter Jessica; his father Joseph; and his brother Richard. Only five days after Terry died, his mother, Caroline Marie (Lewis) Winkle passed away at the age of 92.

Terry is survived by his wife, Ann Fox Winkle; his sons, Jason Winkle and Billy Scharr and his daughter, Catherine Montour; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Terry sat on the board of the Imperial Beach Historical Society and was a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars.

He will be interred at Miramar National Cemetery at a future date.
