Donald (Don) G. Fennell

Don passed away on Aug. 7, due to many different health complications.

Don grew up in Arkansas on a farm. Even though his father would have loved for Don to be a farmer, the sea was calling to him. He joined the Navy at 17 and landed in San Diego.

Don and his wife Alice of 54 years enjoyed raising their children in Imperial Beach. Don was retired from the Navy and Civil service as a Aviation repair technician. He finished up his working days working for the Navy Exchange in Imperial Beach. Don enjoyed cooking, painting pictures and loved watching old westerns, especially those who starred his favorite actor John Wayne. He also loved listening to old country music.

His favorite thing to do these last years was riding his scooter to the base everyday to see his friends. Don was a hard worker. He was kind hearted. He loved his family and was proud of all of them.

He is survived by his wife Alice; his children Raquel, Mary, Patty, Billy and Donna; his sons-in-laws Gabriel, Bruce and Rocky; his grandchildren Joe, Adina, Marlon, Crystal, Tiffany, Matthew, Alex, Angela, Amy and Danielle; and several great grandchildren.

We will miss you always. Till we see you again in Paradise. Always in our hearts! Love you Dad!

A service and burial with full military honors will take place at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego 92122, on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m.
