It is with great sorrow that we tell you of the passing of Esther Barker of Imperial Beach. Most that new her called her Mom Barker.

Esther is proceeded in death by her husband Earnest, in 1991, and their son, Earnest Jr, in 1953. She is survived by her four children, Claudia Franklin of Prineville, Oregon, Dorothy Hale of Paso Robles, California, William Barker and Janet Barker, both of Imperial Beach. She is also survived by three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Esther was born in Albany, Texas. She moved to Imperial Beach, (then Palm City), in 1946 where she married Earnest Barker after he left the army in 1945.

Esther led a full life, doing what she loved best. She loved her family, was a great cook, enjoyed working in her garden, and loved to fish.

She will be buried at Mount Hope on Nov. 17, 2020. There will be no funeral, however, there will be a celebration of her life planned for next year.

Mom Barker is truly missed by one and all who knew her.
