Richard McMahan Sr, 82 passed away at his home on Sunday July 14, 2019, surrounded by his family. Richard, born on July 14, 1937, was the son of Wilfreda (Lewis) Fiscus and Morris McMahan and was originally from Marshall, Illinois.

After high school, Richard served in the Navy for over 33 years. He served as a Master Chief- Boatswain’s Mate (BMCM) during the Vietnam War and during peace time.

He married a beautiful red head, Annette Farmer on May 11, 1957. They made the perfect couple until her death in 2006. He and Annette raised their six boys, Annette taking the reins while he served his country.

It was through the Navy that Richard and Annette discovered San Diego and they made their home in the Imperial Beach area. When he retired from the Navy, he and Annette started McMahan Photography and enjoyed it for many years. He also drove the bus at the airport in his later years.

Richard was lucky enough to have two women who loved and cared for him. Flossie Trout was his companion for the last 10 years. Flossie was there and took care of Richard until he passed. She was amazing with Richard. We couldn’t ask for anyone better. We are blessed to have her in our lives.

Richard loved his Irish heritage, loved fishing, gardening and camping. He was a model train and a motorcycle enthusiast. He loved to travel in his motor home around the United States. He believed there was always something new to see. He touched many people’s lives in his 82 years. He was stern when he needed to be but he was truly respected and loved by many.

He is survived by his companion, Flossie Trout; his sons Richard McMahan of Florida, Steven McMahan of Michigan, Tony McMahan of California, Patrick McMahan of Florida, Jason McMahan of Oregon; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sibling, Shirley (McMahan) Day of Marshall, Illinois; and half siblings Doris (Fiscus) Thomas of Marshall, Illinois, David Fiscus of Paris, Illinois and Darrell Fiscus of Paris, Illinois; and step siblings Phyllis (Fiscus) White of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Bill Fiscus of West Terre Haute, Indiana.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Annette; son Chris McMahan; his parents and step dad William Fiscus; and his siblings Robert McMahan, Donald McMahan, Sandy McMahan; half-brothers Mike Fiscus, Dennis Fiscus; nephew Bob (Buddy) McMahan and nieces Audry (Cookie) Snavely and Michelle Fiscus.
