Erika Lowery, Imperial Beach Chamber of Commerce, Ed Spriggs, City Councilmember, and Rick Macaya, San Diego Surf Limited, joined Dottie Kouza, General Manager of Sand Castle Inn and Suites Aug. 30 to celebrate the completion of the hotel’s year long renovation project. The ribbon cutting took place on the hotel grounds which is located at 785 Seacoast Drive in Imperial Beach.

The hotel was purchased a year ago by Sand Diego Surf Limited who owns several other boutique hotels in California. The Sand Castle Inn has been a long time fixture on Seacoast Drive, but the property was showing its age and for a time was being considered for demolition and redevelopment. San Diego Surf Limited saw the potential in renovating the property to recover its place as a Classic Southern California beach hotel.

Dottie Kouza was hired last year as the general manager to lead the renovation of all 17 rooms and prepare the property for future success. She has extensive experience in the hospitality industry and was excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the Sand Castle Inn’s rebirth. Kouza leads a team of nine other employees including Jose Ramirez at the front desk and Alba Ramirez as the head of housekeeping.

Located on Seacoast Drive across the street from Dunes Park, a few of the 17 rooms offer ocean views and the apartment suites have full kitchen facilities. Pets are welcome for an additional one-time fee.

When you have out of town guests who want to experience a Classic Southern California Hotel or if you want a staycation yourself, be sure to check out the new Sand Castle Inn and Suites.
