The COVID-19 pandemic closed the Imperial Beach Library and the attached Imperial Beach Library Bookstore very suddenly in March 2020. Now, almost as suddenly, the Imperial Beach Library Bookstore will open again on Friday, July 1, selling gently used books.

The Bookstore follows the State of California guidelines which has dropped most of its remaining COVID-19 restrictions. No mask or distancing required if you’ve had the COVID-19 vaccination. Hours will be posted on the door of the Bookstore and are currently scheduled to be open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations of clean and gently used books will be accepted only during bookstore hours.

The nonprofit group, Friends of the Imperial Beach Library, manage the IB Library Bookstore that is adjacent to the Library. The group raises funds for the library’s supplies and many of the free public events offered by the Imperial Beach Library. Think Movie in the Park, among others.

Please consider joining the Friends of the IB Library. They continue to accept new members. Then, if you are interested in volunteering at the Bookstore, stop by at 810 Imperial Beach Boulevard and talk with one of the volunteers. The next Friends of the Library meeting will be on Monday, July 12, 2021.
