The Imperial Beach Ad Hoc Law Enforcement Committee would like to hear your voice and asks you to share your story regarding sheriff encounters. The ad hoc committee was created by a resolution passed by City Council consisting of two members of City Council to direct staff in an analysis of the San Diego County Sheriff Department’s use of force policies and fiscal impacts of the current contract. The ad hoc committee was granted 90 days to complete an analysis. Since its creation, the ad hoc committee hosted two meetings, with community involvement. Community involvement from both sides of the aisle were present. The first two meetings consisted of an introduction on the purpose of the ad hoc committee, a breakdown of the city budget, and an attempt to discuss use of legal force.

The City has requested community and sheriff statistical data encounters from the Sheriff’s Department; however, information has been delayed, making it difficult to move forward with the analysis. Imperial Beach needs transparency to make a responsible assessment. We urge you to please share your story regarding sheriff encounters with the City of Imperial Beach. All stories welcome.
