MOAA And Navy League To Meet

The Silver Strand Chapter, Military Officers of America Association (MOAA) and the Navy League, Coronado Chapter will hold their second joint dinner meeting of the 2019 season on Monday, April 15 at 6 p.m., at the Coronado Yacht Club, 1631 Strand Way, Coronado.

The guest speaker for the event will be Captain Timothy Slentz, USN, Commanding Officer Naval Base Coronado. Slentz’ talk will provide an update on the new SEAL/Special Warfare Campus being built on the Stand. Slentz is a designated Naval Aviator. Before taking command of Naval Base Coronado his assignments include Early Warning Squadrons VAW-124, VAW-125, and Commanding Officer of VAW-121. His shore assignments include the U.S. Naval War College, the U.S. Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany, and Navy Installations Command, Washington D.C.

Coronado High School and Imperial Beach Mar Vista High School seniors who have received military academy or ROTC scholarships will attend the dinner and be recognized for their achievement.

Reservations for the dinner and event are required. Non-members are welcome. The cost is $33 per reservation if paid by check and mailed to: Silver Strand Chapter MOAA, P.O. Box 180043, Coronado, CA 92178-0043, and received no later than Wednesday, April 10, 2019. The cost of reservations paid at the door is $35. For reservations, please email your name, and number of reservations desired to Bob Breglio at rbreg@san.rr.com, or to moaasilverstrand@gmail.com, with the email subject line of April 2019 Dinner Meeting Reservation.
