Due to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) public health emergency and local health restrictions which prevent public gatherings, the City of Imperial Beach is making several changes related to City Council meetings to protect the public’s health and prevent the disease from spreading locally.

California Governor Gavin Newsom issued Executive Order N-29-20 on March 17, 2020, relating to the convening of public meetings in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Pursuant to the Executive Order, and to maintain the orderly conduct of City of Imperial Beach City Council meetings, the City Council will attend meetings via teleconference and participate in the meeting to the same extent as if they were present. Special meetings will still be posted 24 hours prior to the meeting, and regular meetings will still be posted 72 hours prior to the meeting.

In person participation is not allowed.

Due to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) public health emergency, including but not limited to the order by the State of California public health officials for anyone living in the state to stay home, the County of San Diego health order which prevents public gatherings, and in compliance with Executive Order N-29-20, in person participation at City Council meetings will not be allowed.

Members of the public who wish to watch City Council meetings, are encouraged to stream from our website.

In lieu of in-person attendance and only during the time of the COVID-19 emergency, members of the public can submit their comments on agenda and non-agenda items via e-mail to comments@imperialbeachca.gov. Comments for the “Public Comments” section of the agenda must be received by the time the Mayor opens that portion of the agenda. Comments for agenda items will be accepted until the Mayor announces that public comment for that item is closed. A recess may be called to allow City Staff time to review the correspondence. 

To send an email, be sure to add in the subject line: agenda item number and short description.

In the body text, specify if you would like the written comment to be read aloud or just to be entered into the record. Please note that if you request the comment to be read aloud during the meeting, only the first one hundred (100) words will be read aloud so that business can be efficiently completed at the meeting.
