The Coronado based Serve4Good, a program of the Rick and Katie Moore Foundation, is sponsoring a school makeover for Mar Vista High School. This project will involve approximately 100 volunteers from Coronado and Imperial Beach. Additionally, Grimwood Laursen Landscaping and Jared Russell Construction will be providing technical assistance. The makeover includes installation of artwork, landscaping, irrigation, weeding/weed barrier, mulch installation, a walkway from the teacher’s parking area, way finding signs, and general clean up. Although some of the work will be done prior to the event date, the large group of volunteers will be working from 8 a.m. to noon on Sept. 14. Urban Youth Collaborative sponsored Christian clubs in Coronado and Imperial Beach will also join in. Participants will be entered in a raffle for two Disney Park Hopper passes. Timing of the event has been set to spiff up the campus for MVHS’s homecoming week.
