For more than 10 years students and staff from Tarbut V’Torah (TVT) Community Day School in Irvine, California, have helped South Bay Union School District families celebrate Thanksgiving by donating turkeys and all the fixings for a delicious holiday meal, including stuffing, vegetables, potatoes, cranberry sauce and an apple pie.

South Bay Union School District VIP Village Preschool Director David Sheppard said of the relationship the two schools have, “TVT Head of School Dr. Jeff Davis and his students have made this event possible through the generosity and hard work of those students and his staff. The sheer number of dinners provided to our VIP families is overwhelming, 300 dinners this year! The most impressive thing about TVT’s donation is that students are bused down from TVT in Irvine to participate first hand in the packing and delivering of the dinners directly to our families. They are fulfilling their philosophy of Tikun Olam, which dictates that they bear the responsibility for their own welfare, but also the welfare of society in general.”

TVT is the only independent TK-12 Jewish community day school in Orange County.
