The Imperial Beach Optimist Club is sponsoring a “virtual” Spaghetti Dinner anytime from now until Dec. 1. The cost is $10 per person or $15 for two people. With each purchase of a spaghetti dinner, you are supporting the youth of Imperial Beach and South Bay.
Money earned from this fundraiser will go to the Optimist Youth Fund, which supports the VIP Village, Mar Vista High School scholarships, speech and essay contests, South Bay music students, IB Junior Lifeguards, IB Library, as well as Junior Optimists clubs and the annual Kids ’n Kastles competition. Since there will be no overhead costs, 100% of the money raised will support these programs.
When you sign up as a virtual dinner guest, you are automatically entered in a door prize drawing. These gifts include gift cards, bath products, wine, candy, candles, etc. The two grand prizes will be a two-night stay at the San Diego Country Estates Resort in Ramona and a collection of Sun and Sea festival posters. For every $10 donated, a person will receive one virtual door prize ticket.
To participate, donors may send checks to the Optimist Club treasurer, Jean Ordonez, 156 Elm Avenue, Imperial Beach, CA 91932, or contact any Optimist member. All transactions and door prize awards will be made by members with social distancing and face coverings.
Guests are invited to enjoy their virtual meal at a place of their choosing, at home, at the beach, in a park or even your own backyard. The Optimists hope to receive photos of the meals to post on Facebook.
