The Seventh Air Cooled Fiesta will invade Imperial Beach, Sunday, May 19. Five hundred air cooled Volkswagen bugs and buses along with some Porsches and Corvairs will gather. Featured cars will year will be beetles manufactured in the 1950’s. These bugs and all the cars are endangered species displayed for the pride of ownership and public enjoyment.

This is an important show; last year cars cars came from as far away as Santa Barbara and Mazatlan Mexico. This year there is even more interest after an article in Hot VW Magazine extolling the show and Imperial Beach as a unique ideal venue.

Vintage air cooled Volkswagens have become iconic with their images gracing many products. Their popularity has inflated prices of perfect buses to over $200,000. However, there are still very affordable air cooled Volkswagens that allow most everyone to own a desirable collector car.

San Diego Air Cooled is a friendly family oriented club who wants to share the history of the world’s most popular car and their joy of ownership. Over 21 million were manufactured plus buses and other air cooled models.

Anyone can show their air cooled car or early water cooled VW, $20 registration. Roll in begins at 7 a.m. corner of Palm and Sea Coast. There will be vendors and VW related swappers. Merchants may register to become sponsors and set up at the show. More information is at San Diego Air Cooled facebook or Robert Valereo at 619-482-6512. All proceeds will benefit the Imperial Beach Boys and Girls Club and the ABLE Club at Southwestern College.

Please don’t touch the cars, ride bikes or scooters on Seacoast, or drool on the cars.

The show will be May 19, will be free to the public beginning at 9 a.m. Besides the cars there will be entertainment, children’s activities and the Sea Coast restaurants will be ready for the swarms of beetles and spectators.
