The Fleet Reserve, Branch 289, V.F.W. Post 5477, American Legion Post 820 and the Imperial Beach Chamber of Commerce, regret to inform the City of Imperial Beach, the military active duty personnel and their dependents, reservists , members of the retired community along with our loyal and longtime sponsors and supporters, that due to the current COVID-19 situation, the annual Military Appreciation Day is cancelled. The celebration, with free barbecue, is normally held Nov. 11 at Dunes Park on Veterans Day.

Due to an abundance of caution and after several phone calls and conversations, the decision was made by the Military Appreciation Day (MAD) board, who stepped in taking on the organization of the barbecue after the city lost funding, to postpone this year ’s celebration. They appreciate your understanding and hope that they will be able to pick it up next year, right where they left off, bigger and better. The MAD board thanks you for understanding.
