This year the city of Imperial Beach will celebrate Halloween with two events: Trunk or Treat and IB Fire Dept. Open House on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 825 Imperial Beach Boulevard. The joint events will run from 1 to 4 p.m.

“This year will be small to get us started,” said Courtney Stevens, special events coordinator for IB Parks and Recreation, “with each department decorating a vehicle. The community will get to vote for their favorite decorated vehicle and staff will be handing out candy to the trick or treaters.”

“[The Imperial Beach Fire Rescue] open house will feature Imperial Beach fire apparatus and staff in a meet-and-greet environment,” said Tom Santos, IB assistant fire marshal. “Additionally, guests from our lifeguard service, San Diego Humane Society and Sheriff will be present. We look forward to welcoming our Imperial Beach family back home to our neighborhood firehouse.”

The Fire Department is also hosting a costume contest for the kids so everyone is encouraged to dress to impress!

Any business or individual that donates will have their name listed on one of the vehicles during the event. Donations may be dropped off at 1075 8th Street Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Last day to donate is Oct. 27. Thank you for help make this first annual event a success.

Parking will be available at St. James Church or surrounding streets. For more information, email
