For your kid chefs, SunCoast Market Co-op is partnering with the Ecology Center to distribute 100 Field Kits donated by the Chuck and Ernestina Kreutzkamp Foundation.

The Field Kit is great for little ones to celebrate and learn more about how food is grown. The Field Kit includes everything you need to make a family meal of black bean tacos and salsa. The kit is paired with an immersive take-home learning guide and video. Materials available in English and Spanish.

The kits are available for purchase for $36 and are free to local families experiencing financial hardship. Kits must be reserved in advance and picked up on Aug. 26 between 9-10 a.m. For more information and to reserve a kit, visit https://suncoastmarket.coop/event/summerkit/.

Another offering from SunCoast Co-op is the Taste of El Salvador Cooking Demo with Rosamaria - Pupusas & Curtido! This will take place on Sunday, Aug. 22 at 1 p.m. at Coronado Kitchen & Bath, 225 Palm Avenue, in Imperial Beach. For more information and to register, visit https://suncoastmarket.coop/event/pupusas/.

And there’s more. Come hear the latest updates on South County’s first food co-op and ask your burning questions on Monday, Aug. 23, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Veterans Park in IB, 1075 8th Street. Brinig a chair or blanket to sit on; refreshments will be provided.
